# What is X-Factor?

## X-Factor identifies how separation is maintained and released in transition, influencing swing direction and sequencing

**Definition:** X-Factor is the relationship between pelvis turn and chest turn, measured in degrees. During the backswing, X-Factor is typically negative because the chest turns farther away from the target than the pelvis.

### **How to Apply X-Factor**

**📍  At the Top — Monitor the Coil**
How much separation a player creates between their pelvis and chest during the backswing?

**📍  In Transition — Look for Stretch**

Does the pelvis begin turning before the chest? This sequencing can create “stretch” through the core and help neutralize swing direction.

**📍 Watch for a Common Sequencing Issue**

If the chest turns with the pelvis through the downswing, players can lose separation too early. This can lead to a left biased swing direction (for RH golfers).
