# What is Shaft Angle VS. Shoulder Plane?

## Shaft Angle in relation to shoulder plane evaluates shaft delivery and how the player's hand depth and body sequencing can influence the arc.

**Definition**:  The amount the club shaft is above (steep) or below (shallow) the shoulder plane at downswing club vertical. A positive number indicates the angle the shaft is above and a negative number indicates the angle the shaft is below the shoulder plane, respectively.

### **How to Apply Shaft Angle VS. Shoulder Plane**

📍 **At the Top — Check Hand Depth**
Hand Thrust at the top can influence Shaft Angle. A more negative Hand Thrust, indicating deeper hands, can encourage a shallower arc.

📍 **Transition — Monitor Pelvis Movement Order**
Look for the pelvis to move in sequence.

📍 **Into Impact — Connect the Movements**
Use Shaft Angle alongside Hand Thrust and the body's movement data to understand how the player's movements are influencing the shaft as it approaches impact.
