Nelly Korda: 3 ways to swing effortlessly

At just 27 years old, Nelly has already built one of the most impressive resumes in modern golf. With four major championships, 19 LPGA Tour victories, and an Olympic gold medal, she continues to raise the bar for excellence in the game.

Beyond the trophies, Nelly is known for something every golfer admires: a picture-perfect golf swing

So what can you learn from the newest U.S. Women's Open champion?

1. Re-Centering During the Backswing

At the top of her swing, both Nelly's upper and lower body have shifted slightly toward the target compared to where they started at address.

Nelly's Numbers

  • Chest Sway at Top: 0.2"
  • Pelvis Sway at Top: 0.5"

 YOUR Check Point:
Are you re-centering toward the target before reaching the top of your backswing?

This subtle move helps Nelly stay balanced, sequence efficiently, and create a powerful transition into the downswing.

The numbers are positive when your chest/pelvis is moving towards your target compared to address.

2. Loading Power by Lowering

Another hallmark of Nelly's swing is how both her chest and pelvis lower during the backswing.

Nelly's Numbers

  • Chest Lift: -1.5"
  • Pelvis Lift: -0.9"

YOUR Check Point:
Are your chest and pelvis lowering during the backswing, or are you standing up?

Lowering creates the foundation for powerful ground-force interaction and helps set up an athletic, dynamic downswing.

The numbers are negative when your pelvis/chest is below where it was at address (drop).

Compare your movement patterns to Nelly's and see where you can make improvements toward a more efficient, tour-level motion.
