# Launch it like Collin Morikawa: Creating Lead Wrist Angles

**Collin Morikawa has a very strong lead wrist at impact. So how does he still launch his driver over 100 feet in the air?**

The answer is in his **Sway Gap**.

At impact, Collin's lead wrist is significantly flexed (or bowed), which helps deloft the club.

But look at what his body is doing.

Sway Gap measures the difference in sway between the **chest and pelvis** throughout the swing. Negative indicates the chest behind the pelvis.

At address, Collin's chest is about **1.4" behind his pelvis**.

At the top, that increases to around **2.2"**.

Then, in the downswing, it increases dramatically.

By impact, his chest is nearly **5.9" behind his pelvis**.

That separation helps him keep his chest back and deliver the loft he needs—even with a strongly flexed lead wrist.

**Strong lead wrist. Chest back. High launch.**

It's a great example of why you can't look at one position in isolation. The rest of the body has to work with it.
