Allison Lee’s Consistent Iron Shots

One of the purest ball strikers on the LPGA , Allison Lee has a swing that is both beautiful and effective. Now a new mom, Alison has returned to competition with a series of strong finishes, including a top 10 at the US Women's Open this month. Let's learn from Allison's buttery swing.

Great players often shallow the club because their hands move forward in transition. As the hands move out toward the target, the club naturally falls behind and the shaft shallows without manipulation.

Hand Thrust: Distance the hands move towards/away from the ball. Negative means away from the front.

At the top of the backswing, the hand thrust reaches max depth. The club head gap reaches itsit's maximum gap after P2, where it was 0".

Club-hand Gap: Distance between the club head and hands. 0 means club/hand are perfectly parallel. Positive means the club is closer to the ball.

One of the biggest misconceptions in golf is that shallowing the club comes from dropping the hands behind you or excessively tilting your body.
