Akshay Bhatia’s Immense Speed: Creating X-Factor

Akshay Bhatia generates elite clubhead speed despite a smaller frame

The secret isn’t brute force — it’s mobility and rotational separation.

One of the best ways to see this is through the X-Factor — the difference between torso and pelvis rotation.

During the downswing:

  • Akshay maintains 10+ degrees more separation than the tour average at impact
  • His torso continues accelerating while the pelvis keeps opening
  • The separation stays high deep into the downswing

X-Factor: The turn (in degrees) of the chest with respect to the pelvis, if chest is more open to the target than the pelvis it is positive. Otherwise, it is negative.

Most players lose this separation as the body unwinds.Akshay doesn’t. Instead, the motion behaves like a stretched elastic band — storing rotational energy before releasing it into the club.

The result:

  • Massive rotational acceleration
  • Efficient energy transfer
  • Elite speed without relying on size or vertical force
